Next Academy Session


 

THE ACADEMY IS FREE and all learning materials, uniforms and lunches are included.  

This academy will provide the student with first hand knowledge of law enforcement.  

The academy gives the participant an opportunity to a hands on view of  law enforcement.  It assists the participant to make a decision, with the help of veteran police officers, to choose law enforcement as a career.


The academy staff, with the help of school counselors and/or school liaison officers identify those students interested in law enforcement.  Students submit applications to their local police agencies for consideration.  A background investigation will be conducted  consisting of a local criminal history check, a criminal check from the Kent County Juvenile Court and a driving history.

 

WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME ?

1.  You will receive a sampling of the training found in police recruit training schools and receive a first hand look at the various components that make up law enforcement.

2.  You will be given the opportunity to develop an appreciation for the value of teamwork and cooperation in attaining group objectives.

DO I HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

1.  You must adhere to the strict paramilitary style rules and regulations of the academy.

2.  You will be given specific orders throughout the week and will be expected to follow directions in a precise manner.

3.  You are expected to give your full, physical effort in a daily strenuous workout and run. Police work is not easy.

4.  You will function as a unit and coordinate your actions with a high degree of precision.  Cooperation is a must!

5.  You must present yourself professionally at all times.
